Oh, the irony...

I have a small "chronic" illness. It won't kill me, but it does make me miserable sometimes and can affect my life. It is something that I pray about...daily. At this point in my life, God has not chosen to heal me. And I am okay with that. Mostly. Sometimes.

Yesterday, in our chronological reading, I came across a verse that really spoke to me. We were reading about Hezekiah and his illness and how the LORD told Isaiah to tell Hezekiah that he was going to die. (I thought it was rather kind of God to tell him to put his house in order. That's more warning than most people get.) Anyhow, Hezekiah prays and God changes His mind and gives him another fifteen years. (Again, what a gracious God. Now Hezekiah knows that he has another fifteen years to put his house in order.)

I decided that I would post this verse and blog about it a little bit but I was too busy this morning to take care of it before I went to work.

And as I was heading out the door, I was thinking that it had been a while since my chronic thing had flared up and how relieved I was. (Can you hear the "jaws" music in the background? Do you see doom headed my way?)

Well, to make a rather long and icky story short, I ended up back at the house around lunchtime, having a "moment". Which I suppose makes the verse even more meaningful this day than yesterday.

"You restored me to health and let me live. Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. Isaiah 38:16-17"
My health may not be restored the way I want it to be. But I do believe that God uses all things to His good and glory. (Romans 8:28). And someday, I'll find out how He used something like this. In the meantime, I'll probably keep praying for strength and good health. (After all, it doesn't hurt to ask...)

I too have a small chronic illnes....small considering the BIG things other people suffer with. But still the same it's hard for me sometimes. It has changed me in some ways for the better. I probably don't handle the problem as well as I could. Thank you for this post & putting things into a Godly perspective.

I pray for you too, Karen, and appreciate so much your trust in the storm. I do believe God will heal you in His time and you will be made whole. I can't wait to find out how He is using it to His Glory, too. That Scripture about King Hezekiah just haunted me yesterday for a couple of reasons. Get your house in order...and also, his turning away to the wall so others couldn't see him weep. It just struck me. Thanks for sharing your heart and your day with us. It blesses many. Prayers for your complete healing and blessings for perseverance, Annette

Repent!
"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." I Pet.2:24

God said it, he does not lie!
Is there sin in your life? Do you have unbelief? Are you willing to repent and believe that God has already healed you?!

"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7

I will pray in agreement with you.
God does not lie. You WERE healed. You need to take a look at your life and heart and make it right with God. Your sickness is because you are not right with him.
Repent, dear sister, and walk holy in Christ and be whole!!
(for faith building, go to tlsm (dot) org. listen & be encouraged to walk with Christ in righteousness!)
Remember the lame man: "And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God." Acts 3:8

If you believe the first part of this Psalm...believe the second as well!!
"Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;" Psalm 103:3

May God's blessings be manifold to you! Rejoice! and Give Thanks!
Blessings, Mrs.C. (BellaMama)

Perhaps we should pray for my healing as well, mom, as my tongue seems to have developed a hole from my biting it.
